about

Welcome to a world of sounds, shapes and colors as you embark on the journey of the debut Razzle Music Productions album, "RMP1". Producer D. Hunter Eckrich showcases a multitude of musical styles with hopes of reaching every type of fan, even the most stubborn genre-specific listeners. From thrashing and energetic hardcore/metal tracks and 80's inspired synth-pop all the way to outlaw country blues, funk, and old school sampled hip hop, "RMP1" has it all.

What started as an attempt to quell boredom while being laid off at home during the pandemic ended up morphing into a body of work that has been a long time coming from Razzle Music Productions. Unable to focus on any one genre or task at hand, D felt himself being immersed in a world of different sounds, plugins, instruments, and inspirations and found an overwhelming sense of purpose. He wanted to make an album that inspired listeners and musicians in the same way that his favorite artists inspired him throughout the years. Rather than focusing on one specific group of listeners, he decided to try his hand at multiple avenues of production and songwriting. That way, he hoped, the album could appeal to almost anyone that enjoys music. 14 months later, "RMP1" was born, a project 36 years in the making.

While each track was written and produced by D. Hunter Eckrich, there are several different projects within the album itself, each correlating with a specific genre. The project names and inspirations are as follows:

Kick Punch Block (tracks 1, 8, and 12)

Heavy, fast, energetic, and merciless is the name of the game for Kick Punch Block. This project will always be an in-your-face dose of dirty rock n roll and hardcore metal, and D wouldn't have it any other way. Dark and brooding lyrics, high-gain tones and riffs, and explosive drums make up the bulk of it. Fellow Harrisburg, Pa vocalists Mitch Rife and MF Dirt were tapped for their skills on "Last Man" and "The Meek and the Bellicose" respectively and add even more ferocity to the mix. Inspired by such artists as Every Time I Die, He Is Legend, Norma Jean, Periphery, Teeth, After the Burial, Black Dahlia Murder, and more.

Mystery Abound (tracks 2, 6, and 14)

Nostalgic, emotional, and colorful is the best way to describe Mystery Abound. Arpeggiated basses, silky synths, and tons of reverb and chorus. Inspired by film soundtracks from the 80's and the more modern versions of similar style have really had an impact on D. Born in the 80's and well-versed in the music and culture with the help of his older brother led him down the path of attempting to recreate sounds from the past. Definitely the most challenging genre on the album as far as production goes, but often the most fulfilling. Inspired by such artists as The Cars, Protovolt, The Midnight, Gunship, Le Matos, Timecop1983 and more.

Ron Lexicon (tracks 3, 7, and 13)

Raw, visceral, and unapologetic, Ron Lexicon's style of hip hop is not to be discounted. D enjoys finding samples that are a little more string and brass oriented when putting beats together, and the lyrics are nothing short of emotionally driven. Mainly influenced by social and political issues, Ron's words hold nothing back through an array of colorful, poetic, and NSFW language and he's not apologizing for it anytime soon. In a world and time rife with corruption, divisiveness, racism, tribalism, and sheer stupidity from politicians and constituents alike, there was no shortage of material. Bumping with 808s and old-school samples, these three tracks are sure to fire you up. Inspired by such artists as Run The Jewels, Wu-tang, Hopsin, Beastie Boys, Mos Def, Atmosphere, Kendrick Lamar, Slaughterhouse, and more.

Smokey Calhoun and the 85'ers (tracks 4, 9, and 11)

Bucolic, funky, and gritty, Smokey Calhoun and the 85'ers is all instrumental music designed for the road or the camp fire. From outlaw country blues to funk, these tracks are a first attempt for D. Hunter Eckrich. These feel-good tracks are perfect for socializing with friends or anywhere there is some booze. Acoustic at times with crunchy blues riffs, plus funky jams and saxophone make these tracks shine. Inspired by artists such as Murder By Death, Yam Yam, The Black Angels, The Dead South, SRV, and more.

The Hideaway (tracks 5 and 10)

The oldest project in D. Hunter's arsenal, The Hideaway mixes pop punk with synths and progressive rock elements to bring you catchy and poppy tracks with a bit of a twist. The instrumentation for these two tracks was written years before RMP1 ever came to fruition, and the recent lyrics rounded them out nicely. This project is more akin to D's roots and preferred song-writing style as he has always been one to try and think outside the box when it comes to rock music. Often harmonizing leads or riffs and using an array of delay, reverb, and synth pedals The Hideaway is a dream for guitar player. These songs mean the most to D as they about friends and his son, and the plight of growing older. Inspired by artists such as The Receiving End of Sirens, Damiera, Circa Survive, Rush, Minus the Bear, Reggie and the Full Effect, Dillinger Four, If These Trees Could Talk and more.
